LOCUS OF CONTROL

LOCUS OF CONTROL

Locus of control is a driving force basis which you plan & execute your actions on a day to day basis. It has a significant role in deciding our behavior , attitude and our character in the long run.

We can either make ourselves responsible for the result of our actions or the other person , the conditions, the situations responsible for the same and hence locus of control  can be either Internal or the external.

People with high internal locus of control believe in their own ability to control themselves and influence the world around them. They see the future in there own hands and that their choices lead to success or failure. Such persons are more  confident , physically healthier , happier , more independent , high on inner peace and efficient & productive while handling various tasks. Alternatively a person having high external locus of control often blames outside forces for their circumstances , depends on luck or chance for success , emotionally weak , low on self determination and more stressed.

A person having high internal locus of control tends to be better than a person having external locus of control , however at times on situation basis , external locus of control also helps to manage the situation better e.g in corporate , where you need to give the flexibility to employees to decide on process while controlling the results.
LOCUS OF CONTROL

                                                                            INTERNAL                   EXTERNAL
STABLE
UNSTABLE
Ability
Task difficulty
Effort
Luck

The above table shows that a person with stable internal locus of control has high ability to control over their lives whereas a person with unstable external locus of control depends on luck
